Terms of Service

Version draft-2026-10-25. Highlighted items are still being confirmed.

Effective date: [To be confirmed: effective date]

These Terms govern your use of PageYap (the "Service"), operated by [To be confirmed: legal entity name], [To be confirmed: registered address] ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least [To be confirmed: minimum age] and able to form a binding contract. You sign up with a name, an email address and a password of at least 10 characters. You're responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity under your account. Sessions last up to 14 days. Resetting your password signs out all your other sessions.

2. What PageYap does

PageYap checks web pages you choose on a schedule and tells you inside the app when they change. You can watch a whole page, a section of it, a region of its rendered image, a word or phrase, or a number. PageYap records page text and, for browser-checked pages, page images, so it can show before-and-after evidence. Alerts are shown in the app. PageYap doesn't currently send alert emails.

3. How PageYap fetches pages

  • PageYap fetches pages from its own servers as PageYapBot/1.0. It checks each site's robots.txt and won't fetch a page the site disallows. Such a check is reported as blocked, not as a change.
  • It limits how often it contacts any one site (about one request per second per site, with a small burst). It limits page size and time, and refuses private, internal and non-public network addresses (including after redirects).
  • Some pages are opened in an isolated browser so PageYap can see content that scripts load. Browser checks have their own smaller allowance and a daily limit per account, and PageYap applies an overall daily limit across all customers. It may pause browser checks entirely to control capacity.
  • Interactive setup, where offered on your plan, lets you make content-only choices on a page (for example a size, a variant, a tab, or a postcode of up to 32 characters) before watching it. PageYap only accepts choices it offers you. It refuses controls that look like buying, checkout, payment, subscribing, signing in, registering, or entering email, phone or password details. If a choice makes the page send data or contact an ordering or account address, PageYap stops and discards the result.

4. Signed-in pages (saved site sign-ins)

You may save a sign-in for a site so PageYap can check pages that need it. Only two methods are supported: HTTP Basic username and password, or a session cookie you copy from your own browser. PageYap doesn't fill sign-in forms or handle multi-factor, CAPTCHA or single sign-on. You must confirm you're allowed to let PageYap sign in to that site. Sign-ins are sent only over HTTPS to that exact site. You can save up to 20, and you can delete one at any time, after which watches that used it fail visibly until you choose another.

5. Acceptable use

You may only watch pages you have a right to access and monitor. You must not use PageYap to:

  • watch pages, or save sign-ins for sites or accounts, you aren't authorized to use, or bypass a site's access controls, paywall, robots.txt or terms;
  • collect personal data about individuals in breach of law, or watch pages to stalk, harass or surveil a person;
  • overload, attack or probe any site or network, or try to make PageYap reach private or internal addresses;
  • interfere with PageYap, other customers' data, or its limits, or resell the Service without permission;
  • infringe intellectual property, or use captured content beyond what the law allows you.

We may refuse, pause or remove a watch, sign-in or account that breaks these rules or creates risk for us or a website. [To be confirmed: notice and appeal process]

6. Plans, allowances and billing

PlanPriceActive pagesMonitoring checks / monthSetup previews / month
Free preview$03933
Personal$9 / month516010
Plus$19 / month1040020
Professional$39 / month2080040
  • Prices are in US dollars. [To be confirmed: whether prices include sales tax, and the tax wording]
  • One check means checking one watched page once, whether or not anything changed. Failed checks count, and checks held back by a limit don't. Monthly allowances reset on the 1st of each month (UTC). Browser-checked pages, the shortest schedule (hourly on paid plans, daily on the free preview) and daily browser limits also apply.
  • When an allowance is used up, the affected pages show as throttled and resume when it resets or you upgrade.
  • Paid plans are monthly subscriptions billed in advance through Stripe. They renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel in the billing portal ("Change plan or cancel"). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep your plan until then. A plan is active only while Stripe reports the subscription as active. If a renewal payment fails, monitoring is suspended at once: no scheduled or manual checks, previews or browser operations, and the account does not fall back to a free plan. Your data and history are kept, and billing, cancellation and account-deletion controls stay available. Stripe retries the payment on its schedule; service resumes only after the payment succeeds. If the retries are exhausted and Stripe cancels the subscription, the account stays suspended until you subscribe again. There is no grace period. We don't offer free trials. Plan changes in the billing portal take effect immediately, with prorated charges or credits.
  • Refunds: [To be confirmed: refund policy]
  • We may change prices with [To be confirmed: notice period for price changes] notice, effective from your next billing period.

7. Service limits and no guarantee of detection

PageYap reports each check honestly as changed, unchanged, incomplete, throttled, blocked or failed. It doesn't treat a failed check as a change. Websites change their structure, block automated access or load content in ways PageYap can't read, so PageYap doesn't guarantee that it will detect every change, detect it at a particular time, or that captured content is complete or accurate. Don't rely on PageYap as your only source for time-critical, legal, financial or safety decisions. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties to the extent the law allows.

8. Your content and ours

You keep whatever rights you have in your watch settings. Content captured from third-party websites belongs to its owners, and PageYap shows it to you only as evidence of change. You give us the rights we need to run the Service for you. PageYap's software, design and brand are ours.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using PageYap at any time. To close your account, use Account, then Delete account, in the app (it asks for your password and a typed confirmation). Deleting your account cancels any subscription immediately, without an automatic refund ([To be confirmed: refund policy]); charges already made are not undone. Your watches, history, snapshots, alerts and saved sign-ins are deleted. Stripe keeps its invoice and payment records, and PageYap keeps a minimal record that the deletion happened (no email address) and anonymous daily usage counts used for its safety limits. We may suspend or end accounts for breach of these Terms, non-payment or risk to the Service, and will try to give notice where reasonable.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to [To be confirmed: liability cap], and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or missed changes.

11. Changes, law and contact

We may update these Terms and will give [To be confirmed: notice period for changes to the terms] notice of material changes in the app or by email. These Terms are governed by [To be confirmed: governing law and jurisdiction]. Disputes: [To be confirmed: dispute resolution and venue]. Contact: [To be confirmed: contact email], [To be confirmed: registered address].
